UW Global WACh Aims to Advance the Interconnected Health of Women, Adolescents, and Children

Women, adolescents, and children are three of the world’s most vulnerable populations. According to a report published by Every Woman Every Child, 7.4 million young people under the age of 25 died of preventable causes in 2019, and every hour 33 women did not survive childbirth.   

One of the reasons for these staggering numbers is that women, adolescents, and children are often disenfranchised and underrepresented in scientific research and healthcare.

Alum Paul Nevin Wins Regional Mark of Excellence Award for Photography

A recent graduate's striking photography was honored with a Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Mark of Excellence Awards. Paul Nevin (MPH ’15) was awarded first place prize for feature photography in Region 10 for his photography that documents maternal health issues in Kenya. A 2014 Pulitzer Center student fellow from the University of Washington and recent Master in Public Health graduate, he will continue as a finalist for the national award.

34 Million Children's Lives Saved by Health Investments

More than 34 million children’s lives have been saved since 2000 because of investments in child health programs at a cost of as little as $4,205 per child, according to a new analysis in The Lancet.
