Global Center for Integrated Health of Women, Adolescents and Children (Global WACh) is a joint effort among the UW departments of Global Health, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics & Gynecology. The center makes scientific discoveries, cultivates leaders, and bridges disciplines to advance the tightly connected health and well-being of women, adolescents, and children. Led by Grace John-Stewart, MD, MPH, PhD.
Global WACh Graduate Certificate Program Overview
The Certificate program was created to give a comprehensive overview of the health of women, adolescents, and children, and current issues in global health; and to provide graduates of the program a base of knowledge and broad range of skills to work in fields related to global health or health of women, adolescents and children.
Successful certificate students will complete 15 credits, including 7 core credits, 5 elective credits, and 3 credits from a capstone project.
Fostering new discovery and career development, Global WACh offers one-year seed grants for pioneering research, as well as other funding opportunities to improve the health of women, adolescents, and children. Innovative projects that have global focus, community advocacy and participation, and have potential for development into future grant proposals are encouraged. Past requests for proposals have solicited medical solutions, low-cost medical devices, and improvements in the patient experience in low- and middle-income countries.
