Puget Sound Business Journal: Gates Foundation Invested $545 million in the Seattle area last year

While the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is known worldwide and makes contributions around the globe, the Seattle-based nonprofit has made hefty contributions in its hometown.

An economic impact study commissioned by the foundation shows it funneled $545 million into King, Pierce and Snohomish counties in 2015 that translated into $1.5 billion in economic activity.

Washington State Should Pass Parental Leave

As students at the University of Washington School of Medicine and School of Public Health, we are concerned about the lack of paid parental leave in Washington state.

UW Medicine’s Primary Care, Family and Rural Medicine Programs Lead National Rankings

For the 23rd time in the past 24 years, the University of Washington ranked as the No. 1 primary care medical education program in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 Best Graduate School rankings. 

The family medicine and rural medicine training programs have also led the nation since those rankings began in 1991. The UW’s doctor of nursing practice program landed in the No. 3 position.

UW Named a 'Top Producer' of Fulbright Scholars, Students

The University of Washington is among the top producers of Fulbright scholars and students for 2016-17, according to lists released Sunday by The Chronicle of Higher Education.

The Fulbright Program, operated by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is the government’s flagship international educational exchange program.
