From March 7 – 10, 2024, UW Department of Global Health attended the 2024 Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) conference in Los Angeles, CA.
The weekend included faculty and graduate students sharing their research in seven posters presentations on research topics ranging from academic journal publishing to healthcare management in Lesotho to early hearing detection and intervention in Kenya.

Knowledge sharing continued with faculty and graduate students giving six engaging presentations on various global health topics such as translation and implementation science, the welcome keynote delivered by interim Chair, Carey Farquhar and plenary session, Power, Resources, and Equitable Partnerships in Global Health Research and Practice, which included DGH Master of Public Health alum, Biraj Karmacharya, moderated by Carey Farquhar.

CS18: Oral Abstract Presentations: Decolonizing – Reforming Global Health, Equity, Justice, Global Health Education and Research, presented by Megan Nikiema of eDGH.
CS25: Oral Abstracts: Translation and Implementation Science, Bridging Research to Policy, presented by Arantxa Sanchez Boluarte, Master of Public Health student.
Global Health Debate: AI is a Threat to Global Health, featuring Abraham Flaxman, Associate Professor of Global Health.
The eventful conference weekend ended with an awards presentation where UW PhD student in Global Health Metrics and Implementation Science – Implementation Science track, Ana Krause, received an award from the Lancet’s Annual Global Health Student Posters Competition for her poster, “The Economics and Inequities of Open Access Publishing.”
