Q: Please tell us about yourself. What is your background in global health?

A: I have been in the field of global health for 14 years. My areas of interest are in population, reproductive, and child health epidemiology and implementation science. Before joining the University of Washington, I received a Masters in Public Health from Columbia University, for whom I was employed for 7 years working in Ghana and Tanzania on large-scale evaluations of community based primary health care programs. Since 2015, I have been a Technical Advisor for the international NGO, EngenderHealth, on their post abortion care and family planning portfolios and focused on programs and research studies primarily in Tanzania and Senegal.

Q: What’s your academic focus and what research are you doing as a Research Assistant (RA)?

A: I came to UW for the PhD in Global Health because of the school's outstanding record and faculty in the fields of implementation science and epidemiology. As a Research Assistant for the Department of Global Health, I work under Professor Kenneth Sherr on Integration District Evidence to Action Project (IDEAS) in Mozambique. IDEAS bridges rigorous implementation science and impact evaluation, giving me a wonderful opportunity to develop as a scientist in these areas.
