Amid a crowd of 150 health workers, government officials, and members of the press, early this month I-TECH Zimbabwe and partners celebrated the launch of the Training and Mentoring Program and the Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Program. Both of these programs – funded by PEPFAR and implemented by I-TECH and local partners with support from the CDC – support the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care to build local capacity and provide comprehensive services to combat HIV/AIDS. Among the speakers at the launch were David Bruce Wharton, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Zimbabwe; Dr. King Holmes, Chair of the Department of Global Health at UW; and Dr. Ann Downer, I-TECH Executive Director.
