The National Academy of Medicine co-hosted the 2016 Richard & Hinda Rosenthal Symposium, Precision Population Health, with the University of Washington on December 6, 2016. This year's symposium featured a keynote address by Dr. Susan Desmond-Hellmann, MD, MPH, CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and was co-hosted Victor J. Dzau, MD, President of the National Academy of Medicine, and Paul G. Ramsey, MD, CEO of UW Medicine and Dean of the UW School of Medicine. The symposium included a panel discussion around whether precision medicine, typically catered to individual care, can improve the health of entire populations.
