Maria I. Echavarria Mejia’s (MPH in Leadership and Policy Management, ’13) work on social networking sites was recently published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, an open access, peer-reviewed journal focused on health and health care in the Internet age.
Using a systematic literature review, the authors found that the number of publications about social networking sites has been increasing steadily. While most research relies on observational studies, they concluded that more research should take advantage of the tools already embedded in social networking sites to investigate their potential effects on population health.
