American Heart Association Strategically Funded Research Networks
These are two related and overlapping projects on rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease in Uganda. Both make use of health systems and implementation research methods to better understand how to scale up rheumatic heart disease prevention interventions in a highly resource-constrained environment. The first project (2017-2021) focuses on a baseline assessment and builds a case for governmental investment in rheumatic fever, and the second project (2020-2024) is testing new technologies and healthcare delivery models in order to improve healthcare access and quality for people living with rheumatic heart disease.
