Post Treatment Control of HIV infection when treatment is started during primary infection.
Recent publication by the European VISCONTI group suggests that as many as 15% of HIV infected individuals who start treatment with in 20 weeks of infection may be able to stop treatment after a number of years of successful viral suppression and control their infections without further treatment. In collaboration with the Seattle Primary Infection Cohort we evaluated this phenomena in that cohort and are currently investigating options for combining datasets from other research groups conducting studies on acute HIV infection.
