Biography 

Dr. Johnson has over 20 years of experience in primary care, public health and global health as a clinician, teacher, policy-maker, technical advisor and manager. She has provided health care and public health to diverse populations. As a Clinical Assistant Professor of Global Health and Health Services at the University of Washington, she worked with UW’s International Technical and Educational Center for Health (ITECH) on a program supporting the Vietnam Ministry of Health to build its capacity to use information technology wisely for the delivery of continuing medical education. Previously, she directed a program to scale-up HIV prevention and treatment within two large provinces in the Mozambican health system. She also served as Medical Director of the Cleveland Department of Public Health. Dr. Johnson currently teaches Global Health and Public Health Practice in the Executive MPH program. She currently works in Santa Fe, New Mexico as Medical Director of a large federally-qualified health center. She completed her undergraduate and medical education at Ohio State University, her Family Practice Residency at the University of New Mexico, and holds a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. Her career has been focused on work and advocacy with marginalized populations both in the US and in internationally, especially in the areas of women’s and children’s health, HIV and urban health. She has worked or volunteered on health projects in Mozambique, Vietnam, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Haiti, India, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
