Biography 

Dr. Martin is the Director of the Laboratory Systems Strengthening Team at I-TECH. He brings over 40 years of experience and expertise to this area of work in laboratory practice in both clinical and public health settings, directing and managing laboratories, addressing state and national policies governing the practice of laboratory medicine, and working internationally to support laboratory capacity development. Dr. Martin has extensive background at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), he served as the executive director of CLIAC, the Federal Advisory Committee that co-governs the practice of laboratory medicine in the US. As director of the Division of Laboratory Systems at CDC, he developed a new branch (Laboratory Systems Branch) with both a domestic and international focus to address strengthening laboratory capacity.
