Dr. Brentlinger has trained in both family medicine and public health. She still practices medicine in the community health center environment (current focus on viral hepatitis). She has conducted field work in Central America and southern Africa, with emphasis on refugees/displaced persons, maternal and child health, malaria, tuberculosis, HIV, and bloodstream infections. Her special interests are in the intersection between primary care and disease-focused programs, and in health-worker training.
