Biography 

Dr. Bedard-Gilligan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences with adjunct appointments in Department of Global Health and the Department of Psychology. She is also a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Washington. Dr. Bedard-Gilligan’s research is federally funded and predominantly focuses on recovery process following trauma exposure, with specific emphases on the co-occurrence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), alcohol, and cannabis use. She is the lead investigator on several clinical trials testing brief interventions to promote recovery following trauma exposure. Her work also focuses on researching underserved communities and low resource settings, both in the US and internationally, in order to improve access to evidence-based care. She has presented her research at national conferences and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. She also maintains an active clinical practice at the University of Washington Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic, specializing in delivering empirically supported treatments for PTSD and anxiety disorders.
