Mark Oberle served as Associate Dean at the University of Washington School of Public Health from 1999-2014, and Professor of Epidemiology, Global Health, and Health Services. He graduated from Harvard University, obtained an MD degree at Johns Hopkins University and MPH from the University of California Berkeley. Oberle served as an epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for two decades. He founded the UW Northwest Center for Public Health Practice and the NW Center for Public Health Informatics. His research interests have included infectious disease control, the development of oral rehydration therapy, family planning, maternal and child health, public health informatics, emergency preparedness, and zoology.
