Christine Bastian, MA, provides leadership for academic programs and student services, including curriculum, funding, advising, admissions, student resources, and academic policies. She previously served as Assistant Dean of Operations and Strategic Initiatives at the MSU College of Music, where she led operations, student health and wellness, entrepreneurship, and career education. She has taught graduate and undergraduate courses on entrepreneurship, financial management, and career development, and been a guest presenter on these topics at Gonzaga University, University of Alabama, Bowling Green State University, and other institutions. She has interests in curriculum development and community engagement; while at MSU she developed both degree programs and courses, collaborated on efforts to revise existing degree requirements, and hired adjunct faculty to expand curricular offerings. She has presented at multiple conferences on career advising, new program and course development, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning.
She holds undergraduate degrees from University of Michigan in Music Performance and English, an MM in Music Performance from Indiana University, and an MA from Michigan State University in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education. Outside of work, Christine continues to perform and teach viola, and enjoys hiking, trying cuisine from other cultures, and reading.
