There are no restrictions for majors completing the minor unless there are too many credits overlapping between the two programs.
Once you emailed Lyda Ebadani (ghminor@uw.edu) to share you interest in the Global Health minor, you will have access to her scheduling link. Global Health Minor advising is appointment only, with no drop-in available.
No, required courses with the GH-prefix are required for the minor.
No, you may take the core classes in any sequence. This includes the Perspectives in Global Health series (G H 401 and 402), which are non-sequential and may be taken in any order.
Upper-division courses are Global Health-prefix 300- & 400-level courses. Upper-division courses taken outside of the minor will not count towards this requirement.
Yes, you may, but be certain you take at least one course per elective area with your total elective credits equaling a minimum of 19 credits.
You will need to complete additional coursework to meet the upper-division requirement.
Courses not on the pre-approved elective list can possibly be counted towards the Global Health Minor. Please submit a Global Health Minor Elective Exception Request, linked here and then contact Lyda Ebadani (ghminor@uw.edu) with your request, indicating which elective area you would like the course to count towards, sharing the course syllabus.
All requests will be reviewed by Lyda Ebadani and/or Todd Faubion, and students will be notified in 1 to 2 business weeks of the decision. If approved, it will take 1 business week for changes to be reflected in DARS.
Course exception requests are allowed only for elective areas. Core coursework is not eligible for exception requests.
